The Langham London has launched a cookery school led by Michel Roux Jr as part of the hotel’s “Langham Luminaries” programme.

Roux will be the latest ‘Langham Luminary’ for the hotel’s global campaign launched in January 2025, the “Your Story. Our Legacy.”, featuring prominent figures from culture, design and gastronomy whose personal experiences reflect The Langham brand.

Working as a consultant with the brand for around a decade, Roux has helped shape the hotel’s restaurant and dining experience, and will now lead a new cookery school experience, turning his culinary background and ties to the hotel’s history into an interactive experience for guests to participate in.

Bob van den Oord, chief executive of LHG, said: “Michel Roux’s passion for food, dedication to culinary craft and long-standing relationship with The Langham make him a natural addition to our Langham Luminaries lineup. His story is one of curiosity, discovery and a deep appreciation for people and place – qualities that align closely with the values of our flagship brand.”

Former owner of Le Gavroche, the first restaurant in the UK to achieve three Michelin stars, Roux draws inspiration from the London food scene and his own family, fusing French technique with British ingredients.

Roux added: “Comfort food for me is something that’s been lovingly cooked. And it doesn’t have to be fanciful. That’s what I want to transmit in my food, especially at The Wigmore.”

Recognised internationally, Roux is also known for his appearance on television programmes including Kitchen Impossible, Michel Roux’s French Country Cooking and Five Star Kitchen: Britain’s Next Great Chef.
