Compass Group UK and Ireland CEO to retire

Compass Group UK and Ireland chief executive Robin Mills will retire this summer after 19 years with the contract catering business, with Charlie Brown appointed interim chief executive during the search for a permanent successor.

Mills has led the UK and Ireland division for the past seven years, overseeing a period in which the regional business doubled in size. During his tenure, he guided the company through the Covid-19 pandemic and led major strategic developments, including the £475m acquisition of CH&Co in 2024.

Following his retirement, Mills will remain chair of the Compass Group Foundation, the company’s charitable organisation established three years ago. The foundation has supported more than 21,000 people and over 300 small enterprises globally.

Brown, currently executive director of strategic partnerships, will take on the role of interim chief executive while the recruitment process for a permanent replacement is completed. He has spent 19 years with Compass Group, including six years leading its education business before moving into his current position.
