London City Airport has partnered with Aspire Pre-Flight Hospitality to launch its first premium departure lounge, which is scheduled to open in early 2027.

The facility will be located within the airport’s departures area and will be available as an upgrade option for all departing passengers. The opening will coincide with London City Airport’s 40th anniversary and forms part of its wider growth strategy as it works towards handling nine million passengers annually.

Designed to serve both leisure and business travellers, the lounge will include dedicated workspaces, private booths and a range of seating options. Food and beverage facilities will feature a cocktail bar, barista station and menus inspired by London and international cuisine.

Aspire, the airport lounge brand operated by Swissport International, will manage the new facility under the partnership. The project marks the introduction of a dedicated pre-flight hospitality offering at the airport.

Andy Cliffe, chief executive of London City Airport, said: “Our partnership with Aspire Pre-Flight Hospitality has unlocked an exciting opportunity to bring this space to life at a time when we are growing and innovating across our business. The introduction of this exclusive experience is answering a clear demand from passengers and will elevate our unrivalled customer offer and reputation as London’s most loved airport."

Karen Cox, chief executive for UK and Ireland at Swissport International, added: “The pre-flight experience market is in high growth driven by the new demands of the discerning traveller. Aspire is leading the way, constantly innovating and improving its guest experience to reflect this. London City has an exciting growth trajectory, a talented team and we can’t wait to offer departing passengers and future guests a new pre-flight experience.”
