Kibou Japanese Kitchen and Bar will open its seventh venue in Birmingham this autumn. The group has secured the 61 – 63 Temple Row site in the Colmore Business District, which is currently occupied by restaurant Riva Blu.

The new 200-cover premises will face Cathedral Square and open seven days a week. It will include a bar, lounge, open sushi kitchen, main restaurant and private dining space.

Design agency Q&A Interior Design will oversee the project, featuring murals by artist Martyna Sabadasz. The brand currently operates sites in Solihull, Battersea, Cheltenham, Bristol, Cambridge and Oxford. The expansion follows a period of financial growth for the company.

Sam Horswill, managing director of Kibou, said: “We’ve had our eye on Birmingham for a long time and we’re so excited to be growing our brand and opening our newest site in the heart of the city. Some people may be familiar with Kibou after having visited our nearby Solihull restaurant and we can’t wait to become part of the Birmingham community too.”
