Loungers has announced it will open its first central London Cosy Club this summer at the Westfield Stratford City shopping centre, having secured a prominent unit previously occupied by TGI Fridays as part of its national expansion strategy.

The site will feature the company’s refreshed interior design, which includes custom metalwork, lighting, and wallpapers produced by British specialists. This opening follows a series of launches for the updated format across the UK.

The restaurant will trade from breakfast until late evening, catering to shoppers and leisure visitors. Management confirmed the menu will focus on ingredient provenance, with dishes developed around specific production standards.

The Stratford opening highlights a trend of established food and beverage brands seeking space in high-performing retail destinations. The letting is intended to increase footfall and activity at the centre outside of peak shopping hours.

Lucy Knowles, managing director of Cosy Club, said: “Following the success of our new Cosy Clubs across the country, bringing it to London feels like a natural and incredibly exciting next step. Westfield Stratford City is a vibrant, energetic destination and the perfect place to introduce our Cosy way of celebrating and bringing people together, where everyone gets to feel a little bit special.

“Our ambition with the refreshed design is to create spaces that drive strong all‑day trading, encourage longer dwell times and deliver a consistently high‑quality guest experience. We’ve seen this approach resonate strongly in our recent openings, and we believe the Stratford site will build on that momentum.”

She added: “We’re creating a space that feels glamorous, indulgent and always welcoming. We’re everyone’s club, where you can slip into for brunch, gather for cocktails, or lose track of time over long, lazy dinners. London has its fair share of dining options, but we believe there’s room for something that brings people together in a way that’s joyful, playful, and just a little bit unexpected.”

Constantin Wiesmann, director of leasing in Northern Europe at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, added: “Cosy Club choosing Westfield Stratford City for its first central London opening highlights the continued appetite from well‑established food and beverage brands for busy, high‑performing retail destinations. An all‑day concept of this quality brings additional energy to the centre, encouraging longer visits and activity beyond peak shopping times.

“The letting reflects our focus on strengthening the hospitality and leisure mix in a way that supports occupiers and contributes to the centre’s long‑term value.”
