Shake Shack will open its first permanent restaurant in Reading this summer, marking the company’s 20th site in the UK.
The branch will be located in the town centre. The company previously operated a temporary delivery-only service in the area during 2020.
The menu will include Shake Shack’s signature burgers, fries, hot dogs, and milkshakes.
Ahead of the launch, the company has unveiled a new hoarding at the site featuring artwork by illustrator Nerone.
Shake Shack UK business director Richard Franks said: “We’re absolutely stoked to be opening Shake Shack’s first permanent Reading location, and our 20th location in the UK.
“It’s such a vibrant town with a strong food scene, and it feels like a natural next step as we continue to grow across the UK. We can’t wait to put down roots here.”
In its previous full-year results, Diverse Dining, which operates the Shake Shack brand in the UK, reported profits hit £1.05m in the year ended 31 December 2024, up from a loss of £764k the previous year.
It comes as the burger chain benefited from higher sales and improved profitability, as sales rose 6.6% to £51.5m and gross profit margin inched up from 68.14% to 69.44%.
Meanwhile, the company’s EBITDA improved to £3.5m, from a reported £0.5m in the previous year.
