Inception Group will open a flagship Mr Fogg’s in Covent Garden on 20 July, the largest site within the group’s tavern collection.

The 4,500 sq ft venue, which will be called Mr Fogg’s Market Tavern, will occupy the former site of the Crusting Pipe. The former wine bar traded for 47 years within the Covent Garden Market building.

The interior space of Mr Fogg’s Market Tavern is expected to accommodate 130 covers, with an additional 60 covers located on an outdoor terrace.

Having been designed to resemble a traditional Victorian public house, the interior features multiple rooms connected by original brickwork arches and flagstone floors. Seating options include high tables alongside booths positioned within the arches.

Operating daily from 11am, the venue will serve a selection of beers, wines, punches and cocktails. The food menu focuses on pub classics, including beer-battered haddock, smash burgers and sharing plates, with a Sunday roast menu scheduled to launch in autumn.

In addition, a dedicated area named the Guinness Saloon will feature its own bar and a digital counter tracking the number of pints sold. Every 1,000th pint poured will earn the customer a place on a wall of fame, while the 10,000th pint customer wins a trip to Ireland.

Charlie Gilkes, co-founder of Inception Group, said: “We couldn’t be more excited to be opening such a flagship Mr Fogg’s Tavern in the most famous market building in the world. We look forward to welcoming Londoners, visitors from across the UK and internationally and are particularly excited to have built an amazing room with Guinness.”

Emma Matus, head of restaurant leasing at Shaftesbury Capital, added: “The launch of Mr Fogg’s new concept in Covent Garden’s Market Building is a testament to Shaftesbury Capital’s dynamic leasing strategy, securing best-in-class, experience-led operators.

“Mr Fogg’s Market Tavern will complement the destination’s character, heritage and global appeal, showcasing our commitment to the curation of distinct F&B and leisure experiences in Covent Garden.”
